The 1% Match is a World Cup football trivia game built around one idea: progressive elimination. You start alongside 100 virtual contestants and try to be the last one standing.
100 virtual contestants enter the game. There are 12 questions, each harder than the last. After every question, a chunk of contestants are eliminated based on the difficulty tier. By the final question, only 1% remain. Your goal is to answer all 12 correctly and be among them.
Each question has a pass rate that determines how many contestants survive it. The further you go, the fewer make it through.
| Question | Pass Rate | Survivors |
|---|---|---|
| Q1 | 90% | 90 of 100 |
| Q2 | 85% | ~77 |
| Q3 | 80% | ~61 |
| Q4 | 70% | ~43 |
| Q5 | 60% | ~26 |
| Q6 | 50% | ~13 |
| Q7 | 40% | ~5 |
| Q8 | 30% | ~2 |
| Q9 | 20% | ~1 |
| Q10 | 15% | ~1 |
| Q11 | 5% | ~1 |
| Q12 | 1% | ~1 |
If you get a question wrong, you're out -- just like the virtual contestants who didn't make the cut.
You have 15 seconds to answer each question. The timer bar at the top of the screen shows how much time you have left. It turns yellow when you're running low, and red in the final seconds. If the timer runs out, it counts as a wrong answer.
From Question 5 onwards, a Pass button appears. Using it lets you skip a question you're unsure about -- but it costs you your £1,000 stake. You keep your place in the game, but your potential prize drops. You only get one Pass per game, so use it wisely.
If you make it to Question 12, you face a choice before answering:
If multiple finalists answer Q12 correctly, the pot is split equally between them.
